Ted Kazinski

I read that Ted Kazinski of "unibomber" fame built all of his bombs with components that we're hand-made (possibly with the exception of the batteries) so they were like works of art or labors of love. Whatever you want to call it.

Does Ted qualify as an "evil scientist"?

Funny. There was a one-word response in the affirmative here before and they retracted. No where to be found. I guess no one wants to be associated with Ted.

    Awwww. Poor Ted.

Well actually there is an interesting story about his last victim. It was in the aftermath of the Exxon-Valdez disaster. Exxon hired a public-relations firm to fix their tarnished image. Soon after the disaster commercials began running with pictures of dolphins and whales happily popping out of the water and Exxon voice-over saying how conscious they were about the environment and shit. It was laughable.

So I guess Ted didn't like it either. He found-out who owned the P.R. firm and mailed him a bomb. The guy opened it in his kitchen and splattered him everywhere. Ted was a crazy fuck but he did what alot of people in Alaska were thinking at the time.

Sure, I'll give Ted a thumbs up, but he might qualify as more of an evil sociologist. Give his Unibomber Manifesto a read and you'll see what I mean. The odd thing among many other odd things about Ted Kazinski was that his premise "Technology is killing us or at least making us less human" was fundamentally correct. But no one took notice of that. The FBI used that very manifesto to track Ted down when his brother recognized some of the phrases used by the writer as ones used years before by his brother. While his methodology has could easily be impeached as" coo coo for coconuts" his rationale has much merit.
